“Forever Home Adoption Program”
A few years ago we instituted a program to assist elderly people that have lost their Aby Soul-Mates or indeed anyone that is faced with a similar situation but is reluctant to take on the responsibilities of a new kitten. By that I am referring to our “Forever Home Adoption Program”. Which is specifically aimed at individuals that have experienced a loss and do not have the reserve to take on a new little kitten. What we offer is an adoption program for ex-breeding and ex-show Abys. The Abys I speak of are from our own kennel or kennels of associate breeders that we have a mentoring relationship with. The males and females range from a very young 2 year old to approximately 4-5 years of age. They are all retired show or breeding Abys looking for new homes and a warm bed to sleep on.
The adoption process is restricted to individuals that must agree that the Aby adopted will be kept in the house and not allowed to roam free. Alternatively we recommend that an enclosure be purchased or a patio enclosed in netting for the Aby’s outings. Our re-homed Abys are in the best of health as they obviously required same to be on the show bench or used in a breeding program.
All Abys placed through the re-homing program are given a full vet inspection, their vaccinations are all updated, they are micro-chipped and registered, wormed an free from both internal and external parasites. In addition they are de-sexed and registered as a de-sexed Show cat with the Queensland Feline Association (transferable worldwide) in the event the new owner wishes to show their new Aby.
As for costing we ask only the direct costs involved with the above an example of which is approximately $250-$300 for males and $350-400 for females which directly encompass the vet costs associated with the Program.
Should transportation be required we offer our preferential rates with Dogtainers on a “no profit bases” recouping only those charges directly associated with the transportation.
